Water Safety
Kayaks can be launched anywhere along the main stretch of beach. They can also be used to make through the Harbour Mouth with care and attention of other vessels and water users at ALL times. Do not Kayak across the Harbour Mouth.
It is recommended to keep Kayaks within the eight knot speed limit area demarked by the yellow buoys parallel to the shore from Seaton Hole (West) to the Axe Yacht Club (East). These four markers are found around 400 metres parallel to the shore. If leaving this area please be aware of other water vessels and maintain a constant watch for other users.
Please ensure you wear a personal buoyancy aid, carry a means of calling for help and let someone know when you expect to return from your Kayak trip.
Be extremely cautious when the wind is blowing from the land to the sea (offshore wind) as kayaks can be quickly blown out to sea. Also make allowance for the likely tidal streams you will encounter during your trip.
If you find yourself in an emergency situation or spot someone else in trouble, you should call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard. How to call for Help at Sea

About Seaton, Devon
Seaton is the only gateway town to the Jurassic coast where rocks from all three geological periods can be viewed in their natural environment: fossil bearing Jurassic rocks to the east, the vibrant Triassic cliffs just before Seaton harbour and the striking white outcrop of Cretaceous chalk cliffs of Beer.
