Water Safety
A mandatory eight knot speed restriction is in place from Seaton Hole in the West to the Axe Yacht Club clubhouse in the East to around 400metres from the shore. There is an advisory five knot speed limit to the East of this and a further five knot mandatory limit at the Harbour Limits.
All Wind, Kite and Foil Surfers must observe these mandatory limits and use caution within the advisory area off the shore. Users are required to operate their devices safely, maintaining a constant watch for other water users, including swimmers and slower, less manoeuvrable vessels.
Launching off the beach must be done in a safe manner, avoiding the area around the Harbour Mouth and caution must be taken to avoid any swimmers in the water.
Once launched it is recommended that users keep outside of the mandatory and advisory speed restriction areas.
Do not surf across the Harbour Mouth as this is a busy commercial harbour in constant use.
If you find yourself in an emergency situation or spot someone else in trouble, you should call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard. How to call for Help at Sea

About Seaton, Devon
Seaton is the only gateway town to the Jurassic coast where rocks from all three geological periods can be viewed in their natural environment: fossil bearing Jurassic rocks to the east, the vibrant Triassic cliffs just before Seaton harbour and the striking white outcrop of Cretaceous chalk cliffs of Beer.
