Travel to Seaton

Road – travelling from the West exit at junction 30 (Exeter) of the M5 and use the scenic A3052 coast road, which takes approximately 40 minutes. If travelling from the East using the A303, then use A38 from Wincanton, which takes approximately 1.5 hours

Rail – Seaton does not have a railway station, but is only 5 miles from Axminster Station EX13 5PF with trains running every hour to London Waterloo. Honiton Railway Station (EX14 2DA) is 11 miles away. For the latest timetables and journey information visit the National Rail Enquiries.

Coach – National Express Coach Services from all parts of the UK visit Exeter and there are regular bus routes from Exeter to Seaton. Contact Devon County Council for all bus operator information and timetables. The Stagecoach 9A bus route travels between Exeter and Lyme Regis (8 miles east along the coast)

Bus – local bus services include Dartline 20, AVMT 52, Hatch Green 391, 392 and 393 and the AVMT 885 and 899. Also the Stagecoach 9 and 9A service. PLEASE NOTE: The Stagecoach bus service 9 and 9A no longer travels to Lyme Regis from Seaton. There is a reduced service provided by AVMT on the 378 service

Parking in Seaton

There are seven car parks and one coach park in Seaton.  Four of the car parks are owned and maintained by East Devon District Council where you can purchase parking permits.  Two of the car parks belong to Tesco and the Co-Op, please take note of their parking signage for permitted length of stay.  The Premier Inn car park is for the use of their customers only and is not open to the general public.  There is a privately owned car park next to the Co-Op called The Grove Car Park, on Underfleet Way, not to be confused with  The Underfleet West (Long Stay) car park.  Please take note of their parking fees as they do operate wheel clamping penalties. CCTV cameras record vehicle registration numbers and the precise time of entry and exit, to and from this car park. The operators are very zealous at issuing parking fines. Do not drive into, then immediately out of this car park without paying the minimum fee or you will be fined £100.

On Street Parking

Devon County Council is responsible for all on-street parking in Devon. Devon County Council on Street Parking on the Seafront

The parking bays along the seafront in Seaton are owned by Devon County Council and there are payment machines located at regular intervals along the seafront.  Charges apply between 1st April and 31st October, parking is free during the winter months. You will need to enter your car registration number into the machine, therefore the tickets are non-transferable. Payment can be made by coins, or by debit or credit card via the RINGO app.

Between the hours of 9am and 6pm:

Up to 3 minutes        40p

Up to 1 hour              £1.50

Up to 2 hours            £4.00

Up to 3 hours            £6.00

Up to 4 hours            £8.00

Maximum stay is 4 hours – no return within one hour. After 6pm parking is free

There are several dedicated disabled parking bays on the seafront which are free of charge for all blue badge holders, 24/7. Disabled blue badge holders can also park in the non-disabled bays and still benefit from free parking.

Parking Permits

East Devon District Council offer a range of permits for use in the car parks in Seaton. These permits are virtual so there is nothing to display on your vehicle.

The type of parking permits available are listed below:

B&B/Guest House/Holiday Let – this permit enables those businesses offering temporary accommodation to arrange parking for paying guests .

2 day (48 hour)
3 day (72 hour)
4 day (96 hour)
7 day (168 hour)

These permits are ideal for holiday makers and are valid for use in all East Devon District Council car parks. Please note there is a 3 hour maximum stay in the short stay car parks.  Please click HERE to purchase an online parking permit.

7 day Coach (168 hour) – this permit is ideal for coach companies and is valid for use in coach bays in East Devon District Council car parks.

Residents – this permit is only available for a limited period for existing customers, who have previously had a residents car park permit with prefix RCP.

Tourist Information Visitor Parking Permits

The cardboard clock type of seven day parking permit is no longer available to purchase via the Tourist Information Centre at Marshlands.  All permits are now purchased online or via the Ringo App .  These virtual permits can be used in the Seaton Jurassic Car park, The Town Hall, The Underfleet (West) and The Orchard car parks.  Please click HERE to purchase an online parking permit.
